Dear Parents and Students,
It is a pleasure for me to introduce a new member to the OKI Family, the new Chief Administrative Officer, Major General Athula Galagamage (Retd).
With days of great consideration and careful thought, we are proud to welcome an individual who hails from a paramount background of sincere commitment, dedication, and discipline, to join us as we strive for perfection, bringing honour to our Alma mater.
Major General Athula Galagamage, an ex-Military officer from Sri Lanka Army has completed 34 years of consecutive service for the nation, with an unblemished career and then retired as a ‘Major General’.
During his tenure in the Military, he has undertaken many challenging roles including the instructional appointment of Recruit training, Officer Cadet training, and head of academic staff of military training establishment, while holding most of the Command and Administrative appointments throughout in the most disciplined organization of Sri Lanka.
He is a multi-talented individual who was a National Basketball player representing the Sri Lankan team and was the Director-General of Sports for Sri Lanka Army who was in charge of 38 sports disciplines, and an individual with global educational exposure having visited more than 12 countries for various commitments of higher educational courses, seminars, and sports-related conferences.
This choice made by the Board of Directors at OKI has outlined the clear benefits the school will reap through the appointment of Major General Athula Galagamage as he brings with him his experience, exposure, integrity, and maturity over his years of crucial service to our nation.
In alignment with the vision of OKI, Major General Athula Galagamage aims to provide all possible assistance for academic staff to perform their duties without any hindrance, thereby developing academic skills and inculcating strong moral values in a well–balanced student, who will grow up to be a ‘World Class Citizen’.
With his great expertise as a sportsman, he aims to produce first-class National level sportsmen and sportswomen, with the help of our parents.
He holds great concern on rules, regulations, and policies that are being stipulated by the school which is to be maintained at the high standard of discipline among Okians, thus creating a happy, safe and secure environment for the student as well as staff members, which is of prime importance.
His keen eye for detail, enables him to focus on the development of all infrastructure throughout the OKI Network, ensuring that establishments meet all requirements to serve both the students as well as the staff to fulfil their purpose.
